Regardless of whether students choose a Biology major, minor, or combine it with another major,  they will study foundational principles, develop hypotheses and test them, and learn to critique original research.

Our program prepares you for a wide variety of professions in healthcare, ecology, biotechnology, genetic engineering, forensic, education, and research fields. The areas of academic and industrial research are open to those who pursue a Ph.D. in the discipline.

Our biology major aims to provide you with skills and knowledge to effectively engage and evaluate biological issues and innovations in the wider world and to prepare you as a leader in research, biotechnology, or health-related career fields.

You’ll learn the foundational scientific principles and findings in the field of biology. You’ll develop critical thinking and analytical skills by developing specific hypotheses and designing controlled experiments to test those hypotheses. You’ll also learn to read, understand, and critique original research articles.
