We offer seven biology concentrations to explore: biology, biochemistry, biophysics, human biology, molecular biology, organismal biology, and pre-health.
Our biology degrees open doors to a diverse array of careers. While traditionally serving as a foundation for healthcare professions, biology has expanded its reach, offering paths into fields such as:
The biology programs aim to provide you with the skills and knowledge to effectively engage and evaluate biological issues and innovations in the wider world, and to prepare you as a leader in research, biotechnology, and health-related career fields.
In our Biology program, you’ll explore the wonders of life science.
Besides being one of the traditional disciplines for those pursuing careers as healthcare professionals, Biology is an excellent choice of major if you’re interested in secondary education, ecology, or the burgeoning genetic engineering industry. And, of course, the areas of academic and industrial research are open to those who pursue a Ph.D. in the discipline.
Our interdisicplinary biochemistry major blends the skills needed to excel in fields related to biology and chemistry.
If you aspire to do research in molecular biology, become a medical professional, or envision a future in veterinary science, this program provides the robust foundation and collaborative environment you need to achieve your career goals.
Our Biophysics major blends the fundamental principles of physics with the complexities of biology, offering a unique lens that explores the study of organisms at multiple scales.
In our program, you’ll study molecular interactions and decode the mechanics of organisms, preparing you for a career in healthcare or further graduate research in physics or biophysics.
Our innovative Human Biology curriculum bridges disciplines, allowing you to explore everything from genetics to the cultural dimensions of healing.
Whether your interests lie in healthcare, unraveling the secrets of ethnobotany, or advancing physical therapy, you’ll craft a personalized academic path that propels you toward making a real-world impact.
This research-oriented major is designed to equip you with the skills and knowledge needed to excel in graduate studies, medical school, or careers in biotechnology and pharmaceuticals.
You’ll learn to apply foundational principles to real-world problems, develop and test hypotheses using quantitative techniques, and articulate the applications of science in modern society.
The Organismal Biology major invites you to explore the intricate workings of living systems, from the tiniest cell to vast ecosystems.
In this program, you’ll explore physiology, ecology, and evolutionary biology, where you’ll not only learn foundational principles but apply them to real-world challenges.
Pre-Health is the perfect program if you’re interested in pursing a career in healthcare. Our interdisiciplinary program prepares you for medical school, healthcare professions, and graduate research work.
A majority of our Biology program students go on to pursue careers in the medical and health fields. Our faculty are here to provide advising and mentoring for applying to medical school programs and achieving your career goals.
From prerequisites and course requirements to tips for finding shadowing experiences, our pre-health advising resources will help you chart your course to a career in health and medicine.
At our Biology department, we offer a wide range of research opportunities for students to get involved in. From ongoing projects to cutting-edge initiatives, our program empowers students to make a meaningful impact in the field of Biology.
